Chops Grille
Food & DrinkWe saved the best for last. It was the last night of our cruise and this being our 10th cruise with Royal Caribbean, Chops has always been a favorite.
Chops Grille is a classic traditional steakhouse. Chops Grille is best known for their exceptional prime cuts of meats, but also offer chicken, lamb and various types of fish and shellfish.
The atmosphere of Chops Grille is upscale and dimly lit. The dress code is smart casual.
There were six of us at the table for dinner and there was a good selection of food to choose from.
I started out with the Crispy Goat Cheese Salad, which had green apples, candied walnuts, cranberries and topped with balsamic dressing. I was extremely impressed with the flavor of this salad. I normally will get a Caesar Salad or The Wedge, but something about this really called out to me. I was so glad that I chose to go with it. For appetizers, I chose the Colossal Shrimp Cocktail.
Others at the table ordered Tuna Tartare, Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with a Chipotle aioli and the Grilled Black Pepper Bacon.
I went ahead and ordered my usual, the 9 oz. Angus Filet Mignon. As always, it was extremely tender and delicious. There are many available sides, but since we had a party of six, the waiter went ahead and brought the table all of the sides and they were served family style so that we could all get to try a great selection. The various sides we had available were gruyere cheese tater tots, creamed spinach, grilled jumbo asparagus, mac &cheese, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, truffled French fries and a salted baked potato. I enjoyed the tater tots, creamed spinach, and mushrooms the most.
They have several delicious looking desserts to choose from, but since it was my wife's birthday and she loved the lemon meringue cheesecake, they brought us an entire cake for dessert. Chops Grille does not offer this on a normal basis, it is only available at Jamie's Italian, but since the Specialty Dining Manager knew how much we liked it, he went out of his way to make sure that we had one for this special occasion.
Overall, Chops Grille is always a must dine at venue for at least one meal. Often on a cruise, we will go a couple times.
It is $39 per person for dinner, unless you have the dining package. Lunch is also available for $19 per person. In addition to that, things like the Seafood Towers and the Maine Lobster Tails can be ordered for an additional charge.
